Before Pro ITD programme: Bachelor in Electronics Engineering, five years of work experience in IT as software designer and developer.

  • Why did you choose Pro ITD at that time?

The programme had a unique course structure with a combination of core technical and software architecture management modules. It gives a practical playground to apply the acquired skills as part of projects studies.

Also, HTW Berlin is the largest public University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. The University has good CHE and FH ranking which reflects the quality of education delivered there. Berlin also provides a great multicultural professional environment to learn and grow in the tech space.

  • Which subjects are particularly important in the programme?

For me in particular subjects around product management and technical architecture were interesting along with some core technical subjects like data science and IT security.

  • What do you learn in the Master's programme that you didn't already learn in the Bachelor's programme?

Since I did my bachelor in electronics engineering a lot of modules related to core computer science and management were something new and interesting that I learned in the master’s programme. Apart from this the project studies each semester lets you dive deep into your area of interest and enhance your practical skills.

  • What project is particularly memorable to you?

I developed a sensor monitoring system on cloud with voice assistant integration. It was memorable because it combined elements of 3 courses which I studied in the first semester (IoT, cloud computing, mobile computing).

  • If you were to describe the course of study in ten key words, what would they be?

Broad, practical, intuitive, technical, Berlin, projects, papers, management, tools, co-operative.

  • What would you like to do after graduation?

To work as a system designer or software architect.

  • What job do you do now?

I am a working student web development engineer at Formlabs.

  • What knowledge from your studies do you also need in your job?

Knowledge around cloud, web development and system security.

Before Pro ITD programme: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, two years of work experience as a software engineer.

  • Why did you choose Pro ITD at that time?

I was looking for courses that would benefit me in the longer run in the field of product management. And this course promised me not only an opportunity to work with the latest tech domains (cloud computing and machine learning), but also allowed me to gain experience in the core entrepreneurial areas of tech.

Moreover, HTW Berlin, being a Hochschule, has its own remedies and ways for shaping you as an industry leader that no other institute does. I believe that for me here, the strong points were very promising in terms of career growth and excellence. I have been aware of the strong alumni spread across the country who are serving in brilliant companies. The practical course set has been fairly helpful in allowing me to get hands-on experience working with the latest industrial technologies and tools.

  • Which subjects are particularly important in the programme?

Requirements engineering, enterprise architecture management, cloud computing and data science. And not to forget, the excursion we had at BIOTRONIK.

  • What do you learn in the Master's programme that you didn't already learn in the Bachelor's programme?

I learnt to navigate around certain aspects of digitalization and got to work with big projects involving the use of AWS, machine learning as well as project/product management with the help of the practical course content offered in our degree program. I got to exercise better research skills and sharpen-up my reasoning and analytical thinking skills in order to handle complex processes and scenarios.

  • What project is particularly memorable to you?

The OEV Decentralized application (DApp) because it introduced me to the concept of Non-fungible token (NFT) and allowed me to work with DApp for the first time ever. My role was also not limited to just developing the application, but also helping the team in organizing the workflows, which I believe has helped me improve my skills when working around with similar projects.

  • If you were to describe the course of study in ten key words, what would they be?

Exciting, informative, creative, roller-coaster ride, resourceful, challenging, innovative, entrepreneurial, collaborative, fun-to-learn.

  • What would you like to do after graduation?

I would like to connect with the Industrial network here in Berlin and translate the knowledge & skills which I learnt in class, into valuable output.

  • What job do you do now?

I am currently employed as a working student in the field of product management at one of the rising and scaling startups here in Berlin to deliver value and enhance their products and services.

  • What knowledge from your studies do you also need in your job?

I believe that the modules offered in the first semester would be highly relevant in all areas of the industries I might be circulating around throughout my career. Let it be a cloud-based service or a young startup employing the use of smart AI/machine learning, I would be able to have a clearer understanding of how projects are engineered. Moreover, with the help of the courses from the second semester, I would be able to better work with requirements and stakeholder needs by acting as a well-connected bridge between IT and Business.
