Upon successful completion of the module,

• You are familiar with key ethical considerations relating to the protection of personal data. You have explored the impact of data science on today’s society and developed an understanding of principles such as fairness, accountability and transparency. 
• You are familiar with examples of data breaches, particularly in the use of machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms such as profiling and automated decision-making, and are therefore aware of the ethical and legal risks associated with the use of such algorithms. 
• You have an overview of common data anonymisation methods and can identify their advantages and disadvantages. 
• You are also able to analyse the privacy requirements of specific use cases and select an appropriate method, taking into account the utility-privacy trade-off of anonymisation approaches. 
• You gain an overview of regulatory approaches to data protection in the context of big data, as well as constructive data protection mechanisms. You can develop data governance policies and implement them within the business context, whilst taking into account legal, ethical and business requirements.
